I never intended to create a custom framework, or my own set of CSS/SASS guidelines, but it is something that just happened over time. Between my own projects and managing the web team at BitTorrent, I needed a way to keep projects organized, maintainable, and scalable.
I was working with third-party vendors, new hires, and seasoned developers who all had their own methods for organizing CSS. After introducing these SASS/CSS guidelines, my team was able to work faster and more efficiently. Starting new projects, switching between projects, and updating old projects became much easier.
‘Gin & Tonic’ is still a work-in-progress. I suspect it will continue to evolve and change over time.
